Welcome from our Chair Elizabeth Flegg.
We have over 100 employer and apprentice ambassadors in our network which covers the stretch of coastline from Dorset to Kent in the south up to Buckinghamshire in the north.
Employer and apprentice ambassadors join the SE AAN because:
- they demonstrate a high commitment to apprenticeships
- employer ambassadors have a high profile in their sector or geographical area and represent a diverse range of employment sectors
Our ambassadors undertake their role on a voluntary basis. They support and influence a wide range of key stakeholders including young people, schools, colleges, employers and their supply chains, trade associations and employment bodies. They champion and support marketing, publicity and events to raise awareness of apprenticeships. Employer ambassadors also provide mentoring and support for employers looking to recruit apprentices for the first time.
SE AAN is one of nine similar networks across the country.
The SE AAN has a business plan to complete with annual targets to meet and we report back to government on progress every quarter. In return for meeting targets we receive funding to cover our regional costs.
SOUTH EAST APPRENTICESHIP AMBASSADOR NETWORKS
SE AAN is one of nine similar networks across the country. We are a group of employers and former and current apprentices. We volunteer our time to encourage more employers to provide high quality apprenticeships. The AAN in the South East is still growing.
Apprentices can join the AAN here
The SE AAN has a 3year business plan to complete with set targets to meet and we report back to government on progress every quarter. In return for meeting targets we receive funding to cover our regional costs.
The 3 objectives of the AAN and examples of activities carried out by Ambassadors are shown in the chart below:
Activities SE AAN are involved in
In addition to these activities Ambassadors attend one SE sub regional AAN meeting every quarter.
There is also a national annual AAN conference, attendance at which is optional.
We recognise that you will have varying levels of availability based on your job role, so you may be able to attend more or fewer events than other Ambassadors.
What support will an Apprenticeship Ambassador receive?
- Resources to support the role.
- Ongoing support from their Chair and peer Ambassadors.
