Welcome from our joint Chairs, Elizabeth Flegg and John Druce.
The South East Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (SE AAN) consists of a group of employers whose main aim is to spearhead the drive to engage new employers to commit to apprenticeship delivery across SE England.
Ambassadors are chosen to join the SE AAN because:
- they demonstrate a high commitment to apprenticeships and/or traineeships in their own workforce
- they have a high profile in their sector or geographical area
- they represent a diverse range of employment sectors
Ambassadors undertake their role (on a voluntary basis) by supporting and influencing a wide range of key stakeholders including schools, colleges, employers and their supply chains, trade associations and employment bodies. They champion and support marketing, publicity and events to raise awareness of apprenticeships. They also provide mentoring and support for employers looking to recruit apprentices for the first time.
SOUTH EAST YOUNG APPRENTICESHIP AMBASSADOR NETWORKS
SE AAN is one of nine similar networks across the country. There are also Young Apprenticeship Ambassador Networks (YAAN) attached to each AAN to promote Apprenticeships to young people. The YAAN in the South East is well established.
Apprentices can join the YAAN here
The SE AAN has a 3year business plan to complete with set targets to meet and we report back to government on progress every quarter. In return for meeting targets we receive funding to cover our regional costs.
The 3 objectives of the AAN and examples of activities carried out by Ambassadors are shown in the chart below:
Activities SE AAN are involved in
In addition to these activities Ambassadors attend one SE sub regional AAN meeting every quarter.
There is also a national annual AAN conference, attendance at which is optional.
We recognise that you will have varying levels of availability based on your job role, so you may be able to attend more or fewer events than other Ambassadors.
What support will an Apprenticeship Ambassador receive?
- Resources to support the role.
- Ongoing support from their Chair and peer Ambassadors.
- The opportunity to network, share experiences and learn from other Apprenticeship Ambassadors.
