TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:
I was keen to start working full-time after I left college, particularly in business admin, but found that employers would not hire me because I didn’t have enough experience. My parents suggested I do an apprenticeship to gain the experience I needed to start my career whilst working full-time. I looked for an apprenticeship with the local county council as I am passionate about working in the public sector and successfully applied for a Level 3 Business Admin apprenticeship with the East Sussex Careers Hub.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:
I currently work as a Project Officer within the Employment and Skills team at East Sussex County Council. I manage and support several projects to help educate, inspire and upskill young people and adults in East Sussex to find their ideal career pathway whilst also helping local employers with their skills gaps and recruitment challenges. I enjoy project management as it gives me the chance to use my own initiative and be creative when it comes to solving problems and helping others with their skills needs.
TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:
My team recommended I become an apprentice ambassador while I was undertaking my second apprenticeship, Level 4 Project Manager. I had already been taking part in several local events to help inform and inspire other people to consider apprenticeships as a pathway and enjoy sharing my experience and insight as a former apprentice.
