TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT ROLE:
I am the Trust’s Widening Participation Lead and have a responsibility for Careers Advice, Functional Skills, Apprenticeships and advising Divisional Leaders and Managers on the inclusion of Developmental Posts through Apprenticeships in their Workforce Plans. I support current and future colleagues with their career ambitions and help them to navigate the Trust from a career pathway perspective.
TELL US WHY YOU JOINED THE APPRENTICESHIP AMBASSADOR NETWORK:
I am passionate about helping to inspire people to consider NHS careers and in particular, consider Apprenticeships as a pathway. Apprenticeships break-down traditional barriers to education, and widen participation. I joined the NHS in September 2017 from Unilever, where I worked as a European Learning Specialist and prior to this Atkins (now part of AtkinsRealis). I have twenty years’ HR and Learning experience across different sectors that include health, local government, engineering and infrastructure and fast moving consumer goods. All these employers support Apprenticeship programmes, and I have a good understanding of a lot of different career pathways, so I have knowledge that is transferable across different sectors. I can therefore champion Apprenticeships as an opportunity for people of all ages inside and outside of the NHS.
