I work for Portsmouth City Council, a local authority and has 5769 employees. As a council, we’re passionate about providing great apprenticeships, both for our future workforce, and also to provide opportunities for local people and set the right examples to Portsmouth employers.
Apprentices are a key part of the future talent pipeline, and we’re increasingly using apprenticeships as a route into our vast array of professional roles, including surveyors, accountants, lawyers and, in the future, social workers and town planners.
By promoting apprenticeships, we have seen our under-25’s increase from 1.27% to 8.35% of the workforce, bringing new skills, energy and a fresh outlook to our business and how we deliver services.
