I was eager to transition into a more technical career, and the SSE Electrical Power Network Engineer (Level 4) apprenticeship was the perfect opportunity. With no prior electrical knowledge or experience, I needed a career path that provided a solid foundation from the ground up, and this program offered exactly that.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:
This apprenticeship offers a hands-on learning experience that directly impacts the energy industry, allowing me to contribute meaningfully to the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the power network with the nation’s overall goal of Net Zero by 2030.
The skills taught in this apprenticeship are problem-solving, stakeholder management, and risk awareness, system and network planning.

I believe that engaging not only within SSE but also externally will allow me to gain valuable experience and inspire more people to pursue apprenticeships.
