TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:
“Apprenticeships weren’t something I saw clearly signposted when I was deciding what to do next, so I learned about them mainly through my own research. The more I looked into them, the more they made sense for me.
I wanted real experience, not just theory. I wanted to be in a professional environment from day one while still getting a degree, and I didn’t want to wait three years before doing anything meaningful.
So I applied to JPMorganChase, got through the process largely on the strength of what I had built myself, and started as an Infrastructure Engineer Degree Apprentice. Looking back, the apprenticeship route wasn’t a backup plan. It was genuinely the right choice for me, and I wish I’d understood the option sooner.”
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:
I am an Infrastructure Engineer Degree Apprentice at JPMorganChase, working on infrastructure engineering while simultaneously studying for a BSc in Digital & Technology Solutions at the University of Exeter.
TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:
During sixth form I was Deputy Head Boy, and a big part of that role was supporting younger students and helping them figure out their next steps. I genuinely enjoyed that side of it, and becoming an ambassador feels like a natural continuation of that instinct.
Since then I have stayed involved in that kind of work through Hack UK, where I am Head Developer and a speaker. A lot of what we do there is getting young people excited about technology and showing them paths into the industry that they might not have considered. Apprenticeships come up a lot in those conversations, and I always find myself being the person in the room who champions them.
Honestly, I also just wish someone had told me about apprenticeships earlier. I had to figure most of it out on my own, and I know there are students right now in the same position I was in, not because the information does not exist, but because no one has sat down with them and made it feel real and achievable. That is what I want to do as an ambassador.
