TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:
I was previously studying Textile Design at University when I first heard about apprenticeships and realised what a great opportunity they are. I was excited by the opportunity to “earn while you learn” and start applying my new skills to the workplace straight away. Given my interest in sustainability and design, Mercedes-Benz felt like the perfect fit to apply my creativity to a business environment.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:
My role is varied and fast-paced as I rotate around the business each year over the four-year programme. My first year was in the Sales department and I worked in the Fleet Operations team. This was a great opportunity to experience the busy sales environment while learning about reporting, electric vehicle targets and communication. I am currently on the second year of my apprenticeship working in the Product department, in the Master Data team. Completely different to Sales, I am enjoying the opportunity to learn about data analytics and how to use tools such as Power BI. I go to university (MK:U) either online or in-person on average once per week, where I study a range of modules on topics from Change Leadership to Entrepreneurship to Finance.
TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:
I am a huge advocate for apprenticeships. Having experienced both traditional university and a degree apprenticeship, I can speak about the pros and cons of both for anyone who might be curious. I am keen to spread the word about how beneficial apprenticeships are not just for the financial benefits, but for the networking, professional development and on-the-job learning.
