TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:

I first became an apprentice in IT as a way to gain experience in a new sector. As I have no prior working experience in IT, I applied for an apprenticeship so that I have the opportunity to gain a foundational understanding of a new industry. This is with a view to hopefully forging my own career in IT.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:

My current role is an ‘Apprentice Junior Business Application Analyst’. Simply put, I am responsible for helping with the management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of applications within the council. It is very varied as each department has their own system. As part of my apprenticeship I also have the opportunity to experience different areas within our IT team such as Networking and Security.

TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:

I would like to become an Apprentice Ambassador in order to network with other apprentices. I would also like to promote apprenticeships as an alternative way to traditional education, showing that you can get started in any career, even ones you thought you would never be able to get into. Overall, I hope this role allows me to become more confident and lets me discover other people’s experiences so that they can inform my own apprenticeship journey.
