TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:
Throughout school I knew that learning on the job rather than the traditional route of university was the best option for me. As a sixth form student, I was very close to employers and frequently engaged with the world of work. Once I started researching apprenticeships more and narrowed down what I wanted to do, I started applying and accepted an apprenticeship at Thames Water.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:
I’m a Project Engineer Apprentice working on Thames Water’s wastewater sites. My day to day consists of scoping, auditing, and planning construction projects with high level designs and CDM compliance.
TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:
As a student, I found it very hard to find opportunities that were right for me. Due to this, I volunteer my time outside of my apprenticeship to support young people, careers education, and apprenticeship opportunities. Working directly with schools and policy makers, I’m a frequent speaker at schools, webinars, and apprenticeship/careers events. Joining AAN would allow me to continue that work whilst also having a larger outreach to my local area.
