TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:
My journey into the apprenticeship began shortly after arriving in the UK, when I obtained my security certification to supplement my income. After working in various temporary roles, I secured a position as a Corporate Security Officer with CIS Security Ltd in Reading. While working at CIS, I discovered the apprenticeship programme. With the support and encouragement of the Estate Security Manager, I decided to apply for the Level 3 Security First Line Manager (SFLM) apprenticeship. My official start date for this new chapter was 14 October 2025. Since starting, my training plan has allowed me to develop a wide range of competencies: Specialised Security Knowledge: Gaining in-depth insights into security operations and management. Operational Skills: Learning about Health & Safety compliance, risk assessment, and incident management. Personal Development: Enhancing essential “soft skills” such as communication and team leadership. I quickly realised that the private security industry is a vast sector with numerous career stages and fields of study. This discovery was incredibly exciting because it allowed me to bridge the gap between my previous career as a military officer and the UK private security industry. Much like my time in the Gendarmerie, I saw a path where I could once again build a professional career and contribute meaningfully to public safety. In just six months, this journey has completely transformed my perspective.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:
I balance my daily responsibilities as a Corporate Security Officer with management training. My job involves: Operational Security: I deliver corporate security operations, including access control, conducting patrols,
and enforcing site procedures. Incident Response: I am responsible for responding to incidents and supporting emergency responses following established protocols. Management Development: As part of my apprenticeship, I am developing core competencies in operational management, risk assessment, and staff development. Compliance and Safety: A significant part of my training focuses on Health and Safety compliance and ensuring all security operations meet industry standards. Stakeholder Relations: I handle customer service and interact with stakeholders to maintain a professional security presence on-site.
TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:
I want to become an apprentice ambassador because I have personally experienced how transformative this path can be for a professional career. As an ambassador, I want to use my unique journey to inspire others-especially those looking for a career change-by showing them that an apprenticeship is not just a job, but a professional development process that builds high-level competencies. My goal is to help future apprentices make informed choices while giving back to a system that has allowed me to redefine my professional life in a new country. In just six months, my perspective on the industry has shifted to a much more professional level, and I want to help others achieve that same growth.
