TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:
I started on the Heathrow Shared Apprenticeship scheme in 2019 after having a strong interest in construction and some prior work experience. I spent a lot of time looking at the government website and reaching out to local businesses. After more research I found K10 who operate in central London and Heathrow, and they helped me find my apprenticeship with Ferrovial Construction.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:
I am a Section Engineer Apprentice working on Thame Valley Viaduct as part of HS2. I moved to this project in March 2023 after 3.5 years at Heathrow Airport working on the runways and taxiways.
TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:
I have enjoyed the opportunities that I have had to speak at schools or with young people making decisions about their education and careers. It feels great to be in a position where I can be useful to people when they are weighing up the options of an apprenticeship as opposed to full time education. My apprenticeship has benefited me in many ways so it is only right that I can help others to benefit in the same way that I have.
