TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:

During an interview for my current role, I was asked about my previous experience, qualifications and any gaps. I explained that I was really interested in exploring a higher apprenticeship in leadership and management – something my employer was also investing in. I was successful in securing the role and invited to apply for the apprenticeship. I commenced the programme in August 2024 with full support from my manager and employer.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:

I am the Strategic Skills Lead at Hampshire County Council which essentially means I am responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to skills and employment policy and strategy. I am also responsible for ensuring that skills delivery is guided by and aligned to wider strategic priorities such as economic strategy, public health and transport. As you can see; a very strategic role but something that I have worked hard to secure. I love reading, digesting and talking through policy documents with other partners – working out what they mean and how best to respond.

TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:

I have played a role in the Network for quite a few years and so, becoming an Apprentice, it made sense to put myself forward for the opportunity. I’m particularly excited about doing my bit for National Apprenticeship Week activities.
