TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:

I was a student at Sixth form and I decided I need to make my mind up about what I wanted to do once I left sixth form. I did my own due diligence and spoke to some of my peers that go to University and from what I have heard that pathway didn’t suit me, I had always known about apprenticeships as a lot of my friends went into apprentice schemes for manual trades and also some of my friends that had finished sixth form before me had gotten into apprenticeships themselves – I then similarly went and done my own further research on apprenticeships and I had come to the conclusion it was for me as I didn’t like the modern day experience of university. I then applied to a few apprenticeships when I knew my target grades that I would achieve from sixth form and then got the Job at DFDS.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:

My role is a Commercial Experience Business apprentice – In my role I assist my line manger in the successful running of our teams section of the business. That being the 6 Vessels we have on the British channel. 3 that go from Calais to Dover and vice versa. Similarly we have another 3 vessels that go from Dover to Dunkirk. Our day to day duties are to revolutionize and improve different aspects of our customer journey, experience and operational efficiency. I also deal with change management and project management. Some of the projects I am currently managing and am enlisted on will change some core fundamentals in our day to day business that will then be used for the foreseeable future and on some of our new Vessels.

TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:

I want to become an apprentice ambassador to emulate to like minded people that are currently or will be in the position I was in, in year 12 and 13 of sixth form that are struggling with what steps they believe would be right for their future. I believe that having somebody like me to represent the real truth of what the day to day requirements and responsibilities of what earning and learning looks like and what career opportunities can come form this career choice.
