TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:
After finishing college in 2021, I knew that I didn’t want to go to University, but wasn’t sure where to go next. I signed on to the job centre to get support with getting into full-time work. At the time, I was lucky enough to take part in the Kickstart Scheme in a role as a Social Media Co-ordinator for a local business which I full-filled between 2021-22. Towards the end of that role, I was supported by my manager at the time who informed me about apprenticeships and where to look. After the 6 months came to an end, I went back to the Job Centre and was further supported with looking at apprenticeships in Content Creation/Marketing to help me begin my career. I remember seeing the job advertised for my current role on the GOV.uk website and having a good feeling about it. A few weeks after applying, going for an interview, and completing some tasks, I got the email to say that they would like to hire me for the role… right as I was on my way out of the door to a meeting with my Work Coach!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:
My current role is a Marketing Assistant. For the company, I work both internally to promote the organisation and what we do, as well as supporting smaller businesses through our Marketing arm, and helping with the contracts that we win from Local Authority partners. For me in my role, every day is something different; I have experience with event planning for the workshops we run, engaging with followers and creating posts on social media channels, email marketing with weekly/monthly newsletters, writing blog posts and case studies, website design. I still have a lot more to learn in this field and would eventually love to work towards my Level 4.
TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:
I would like to become an apprentice ambassador as this is something I wish I knew about more when I was still in school. Like mentioned before, the only route I ever knew of was going onto University, however this was something I dreaded the thought of doing – especially as school for me was rough when it came to exams and studying. I found that I flourished better with coursework based subjects at both school and college, and whilst there were some exams which I had to take during my Apprenticeship, it focused more on the ‘doing’ part of the job.
