TELL US HOW YOU FIRST BECAME AN APPRENTICE:

Throughout school and college I had aspirations of working in motorsport and like a lot of people, imagined that meant a career in F1. My dad told me of a gearbox company based nearby which made world leading transmission systems and I then discovered Xtrac. Years later I came to apply and successfully joined the program.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT APPRENTICESHIP ROLE:

I am a quality engineer in my day to day role which includes dealing with customer issues as well as dealing with non conformance’s around the business. In a short time frame I have managed to go from apprentice to dealing with major OEMs in the automotive world.

TELL US WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME AN APPRENTICE AMBASSADOR:

I ruled out university quite early on and that automatically turned me to apprenticeships. I wish during my school and college years that there was a greater emphasis on apprenticeships and the opportunities that are available for young people. I have undertaken many events as an apprentice including school workshops and careers fairs, most recently spending time at Silverstone with the motorsport industry association. I find myself constantly encouraging friends and family to consider apprenticeships and wish to continue that further.
