TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT ROLE:
I am an Early Careers Lead at AWE, responsible for leading apprenticeship attraction, outreach and recruitment activities across a wide range of programmes from Level 3 to Level 6. My role focuses on building future talent pipelines, increasing awareness of apprenticeship opportunities, and helping young people understand the different pathways available to them.
I work closely with schools, colleges, careers professionals, training providers and industry partners to promote apprenticeships and create meaningful opportunities for young people. Alongside apprenticeship recruitment, I also lead work experience programmes that give students insight into careers across engineering, science, operations, project management, HR and other business functions.
Prior to joining AWE, I worked as a Careers Leader in education, where I served as a Schools Apprenticeship Champion. This experience gave me first-hand insight into the information, guidance and support young people need when considering their next steps, and continues to shape my approach to outreach and engagement today.
TELL US WHY YOU JOINED THE APPRENTICESHIP AMBASSADOR NETWORK:
I am passionate about raising the profile of apprenticeships and ensuring that young people, parents, educators and employers understand the value they can offer. Apprenticeships provide an excellent opportunity to develop skills, gain qualifications and build rewarding careers, yet many young people are still unaware of the breadth of opportunities available.
Having previously supported apprenticeship promotion as a Schools Apprenticeship Champion and now working in early careers recruitment, I have seen the positive impact apprenticeships can have on both individuals and organisations. I joined the Apprenticeship Ambassador Network to share good practice, collaborate with like-minded professionals and inspire more people to consider apprenticeships as a high-quality route into employment and career development.
I am particularly passionate about widening participation, supporting social mobility and helping young people make informed decisions about their future careers. Through the network, I hope to continue championing apprenticeships and encouraging more employers and education providers to work together to create opportunities for the next generation.
